Originally, Yamaya operated as a catering store adjacent to the main house of the legendary wealthy merchant Yokota Gorobei (near the current Resona Koedo Terrace) from the end of the Edo period to the early Meiji period.

In the early Meiji period, the first Yamaya Hanbei inherited the Yokota family villa located at its current location, and the current head of the family is the fifth generation.

Please enjoy seasonal Kaiseki cuisine in one of Yamaya’s private dining rooms. This restaurant has about 150 years of history and also provides beautiful garden scenery that changes with each of the four seasons. It will be a memorable place to visit for you, your family, and your friends.
